I’m confused…does Carrey’s “higher-minded fair [sic]” start with “The Three Stooges” or with the one about a man who talks to a beaver puppet?

Oh, I’m too cynical. Clearly this revolution of consciousness occurred some time between “Ace Ventura” and “The Mask”:
