The other night, our building had an HOA meeting. At this meeting, a woman exclaimed that she had never seen so many rats in her life as she has around our building. It’s funny that a person would move to a metropolitan area filled with garbage-strewn alleys and rodent-attracting restaurants and then act shocked that rats would appear near her BMW in the parking garage. These are the same people who want Downtown to be just like Manhattan; having, of course, never really seen Manhattan outside of episodes of “Sex & the City” and “Gossip Girl”.
Another resident (a real estate agent) whined about the bus stop that is outside of the building. “Can’t we get the City to move the stop across the street?” What he was really saying: “Those brown people lined up next to the building really drive down asking prices for our lofts!”
I moved Downtown thinking that maybe there would be fewer entitled douchebags living here, but I don’t think such a place exists.
